Bio:

After several years working in illustration and video production, David moved to Houston in 1985 to pursue a masters degree in architecture at Rice University. He distinguished himself as a student, serving as teaching assistant to Anderson Todd, winning awards and graduating first in his class. His final project, 4 Chairs, was purchased by the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and remains part of the museum's permanent collection.

While a graduate student, David spent his first summer break working for National Trust for Historic Preservation, serving in the Main Street program. As an intern, he researched, wrote and illustrated the design guidelines for Hot Springs, Arkansas' Historic District.

He apprenticed under Michael Rotondi and Thom Mayne, the Pritzker winning leader of Morphosis, and gained further experience in the offices of Frank Gehry and Barton Myers in Los Angeles.

In 1992, David joined the faculty of the Rice School of Architecture where he taught design studios for 15 years. He also spent two years on the faculty of the University of Houston (1999-2001), and has taught workshops at Tulane and the Universidad del Diseno in Costa Rica.

David opened his design office upon graduation in 1990. The firm's awards include selection for the 1997 Young Architect's Forum by the Architecture League of New York, selection for Architectural Record's 2001 Design Vanguard, and an international photography prize from Nikon in 1990.
